    Expedition Skills I - Norway's Helgeland Coast

    Expedition Skills I is designed for paddlers who want to enhance their knowledge and skills while also gaining practical experience on the coast of Norway, one of the World’s great sea kayaking destinations. This program will build your confidence and advance your independent paddling ability. It is a comprehensive introduction to the many aspects of kayak touring including: boat handling, rescues, navigation, weather theory, and wilderness skills.

    The six-day trip is packed with on water sessions, camp discussions and interactive lectures. The emphasis is on developing your understanding of the principles of seamanship for kayakers with the goal of making you a more informed and safer paddler. The model used is that of a kayaking trip with a group of your friends where everyone participates in the decision-making and the outcome of the trip. You will have the opportunity to route plan and gain a broad range of experience with the support of experienced instructors.

    This course is offered in the waters of Helgeland’s Coast on the Arctic Circle. This scenic archipelago is famous for it bird life and have a number of exceptional campsites which combined with a diversity of sea conditions makes for excellent instructional settings and a great paddling trip.
